Nutritionist Anjali Mukherjee recently shared an Instagram post about beans and how important they are for cardiovascular health besides having immunity-boosting nutrients. "From a health standpoint, beans are every bit as magical as the beans of 'Jack and the Beanstalk' fame. Despite differences in shapes, sizes, colours, textures and flavours, beans are surprisingly similar in nutrient composition and health quotient," she wrote in the post.


Beans are rich in antioxidants, vitamins and minerals, promoting overall health by flushing out toxins, cleansing the blood and fighting diseases.


People who have diabetes should also consume beans, as per the nutritionist. "Being rich in fibre, beans have a low glycemic index and provide sustained energy," she added.


Besides this, the fibre in the beans helps with cholesterol levels, keeping the heart healthy. "The fibre in the beans helps to fill up while promoting a healthy digestive tract and lowering blood cholesterol levels," Anjali Mukherjee.

Bone density is another major factor that is affected by the intake of beans, as the legumes help in maintaining the recommended intake of calcium to strengthen the bones. Read More On..
